Trentham

If you’d like to live in a leafy suburb with access to good schools, supermarkets, and places to eat, you’re sure to fall in love with Trentham. Situated to the south of Stoke and Newcastle-under-Lyme, it’s known for its award-winning gardens, outdoor shopping village and stunning ancient woodlands.

You’ll find a selection of good schools and academies nearby, making it one of the best places in Stoke-on-Trent to raise a family. Young professionals and retirees will feel right at home in Trentham too, thanks to its community vibe, beautiful green spaces, and easy access to the city.

Transport

Trentham is only an 8 minute drive to the centre of Stoke, but you can also get there via public transport in around 30 minutes. Alternatively, you could cycle in around 20 minutes, or walk for about an hour.

Local schools

There are two primary schools in Trentham to choose from - Ash Green and The Priory - as well as one high school, Trentham High School.

Property price growth

Over the last year, sold prices in Trentham went up by 4% in comparison to the previous year.

History

Trentham has popped up a couple of times throughout history! It was where the Mercian princess Werburgh died in 699AD. It was also the location of the Trentham Priory (dissolved in 1540). The area was also bombed in World War |, and was where thousands of French troops were stationed after they fled Europe at the fall of France in 1940.

Trentham was originally the estate village for Trentham Hall, the former seat of the Dukes of Sutherland. The Sutherland family estate eventually formed Trentham Gardens.
