Situated to the north east of Cardiff city centre, it’s easy to get into the Welsh capital without sacrificing the space, peace and quiet, and community vibe that comes with living in a leafy suburb.

Roath has something for everyone. With parks, lakes, a botanic garden and recreational ground, there’s plenty of green spaces for families, dog walkers and nature lovers alike. 

If you work remotely, Roath’s abundance of coffee shops can give you a break from the home office or kitchen table. 

And if you’re a fan of vintage fashion or thrifted furniture, Splott Market, Cardiff Indoor Flea Market, and Clydesmuir Road Industrial Estate will have all the hidden treasure you could possibly wish for. 

Pontcanna is another leafy suburb to be found in Cardiff. Over the last few years it’s become the most trendy place to live in the capital. It’s affluent, exclusive and has even been praised by The Times as one of the best places to live in the UK.

If you work in the city centre, you could save money on petrol and keep your Apple Watch happy with a 25 minute walk into town each day. You’ll find Cardiff University, BBC Cymru Wales, the shopping centre, hospitals, and Principality Stadium right on your doorstep. 

Even if Pontcanna happened to be further away from the city centre, it’d still be a fantastic place to live. Its streets are decorated with independent cafes, shops, and restaurants. There’s no shortage of green spaces either, thanks to Thompson’s Park, Pontcanna Fields and Bute Park, to name a few.

You’ll find the vibrant village of Whitchurch just a 20 minute drive from Cardiff city centre. It’s close enough that you can easily get to work, see a gig or visit the castle for an afternoon, while also far enough that you can enjoy a slower pace of life. 

Whitchurch Common and Whitchurch Golf Club are wonderful places to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. There’s also plenty of coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets within easy reach. 

With good schools and transport links, it’s a great place to raise a family.
